Lara Ryan

Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual

Biography

As a financial advisor, I appreciate that financial planning must be tailored to a person’s/family’s specific needs and goals. I help my clients articulate what those personal, professional and financial goals are and, together, we develop a plan to achieve them.

As an active duty spouse, I understand military life and the challenges and opportunities it includes. I know that when you’re in the military, you’re busy with duty, career, family and other high-priority concerns. Your service has earned you benefits, but you may not know exactly to what you are entitled or have the time to navigate the system to figure it out. I am well-aware of the unique financial and emotional challenges that military service members and their families face, and I understand military pay and benefits, the transitory life of service members, and military milestones (enlisting/commissioning, PCSing, buying a home, planning for a family, transitioning, retiring, planning for a second career, and accessing post-military benefits with the VA).

Our team includes a 32-year veteran wealth management advisor, a retired USMC H-53 pilot, a former SEAL, and a USN aviator. We work with a wide range of clients, but specialize in working with active duty, retired, veteran and military-connected individuals, families & businesses. We provide strategic and holistic advice, and are motivated by the mission to help others. I use my gifts of serial optimism and high energy to find creative solutions to challenges.

After 20 years working in the field of philanthropy with a focus on MIL/VET causes, I bring my servant leadership to bear as an advisor. Philanthropy is about meeting the needs of others, and in this new role, I continue to serve that need. I strive to create enduring relationships by providing innovative solutions and professional direction to help clients accomplish their financial objectives.
